Description"Endocrine disruptors" are a broad term for chemical substances that may disrupt the hormonal systems of humans and wildlife by mimicking or blocking the action of normal hormones. The best-known example is synthetic estrogens.

DDT, dioxins, PCBs, and certain epoxy resins are among the chemicals that may act as endocrine system disruptors.
